Cupcake Love!

If there are any sweets, especially cupcakes, Ian's little nose sniffs them out, and he helps himself. Ben's mom made some cupcakes and they were on the counter in a cake pan, with foil over them. Ben and I were in the other room and it was very quiet. That is never a good sign. We investigated and found Ian sitting at the kitchen table helping himself to all three cupcakes. It was so funny.!! Unfortunatley for Ian (and us), we found out that he is allergic to eggs, cashews, and coconut. He loves eggs and they are in everything. Luckily we found an egg susbsitute called ENER-G. It works great and we used it for Ian's birthday cake and even cheesecake and you can't even tell the difference. Hopefully he will grow out of the allergy. That also means we can't give him the flu vaccines. So, it will be a long winter, hybernating inside with Ian and baby Sadie, (whom should be coming any day now!).

Baby Hat

Ian found a little beanie that somebody had made for him when he
was born. It's a little small now, but he loves to wear it and gets mad if we try and take it off. Silly little boy!!

Union Station

We took Ian to union station to see his favorite thing trains!!! We had a good time. There were a lot of people there taking pictures so we didn't get as many pictures as we would have liked to. We still had fun. Watch out we have a future conductor.

2009 Zoo Time

On our anniversary we went to the zoo. It was fun to be able to see Ian's reaction to the animals. We had fun being there with Grandma and Grandpa Johnsen. We are glade to have grandparents that like to have fun and spend time with Ian. There was a noisy monkey there. There were a lot of new baby animals there. It was fun to take time out of busy lives to be with family.

Our little monkey loves to climb the side of the crib. He is such a silly little boy. He loves sleeping in his big boy bed, but he still likes to play around.

Next Great Musician

I found a Harmonica that was given to me by my grandpa greenhalgh when I was around the age of 8 and I gave it to Ian and taught him how to use it. He caught on fast and who knows he has time to get really good at it.

Ian's Big Boy Bed!!!

Ben built Ian a new bed. We found the design from Pottery Barn and instead of paying over $1000 for it, we opted to buy wood, stain, and bolts less than $150 and have Ben and Stan build a bed. Ben has always loved woodworking and has wanted to do this since Ian was in my belly.

Ian loved the headboard and footboard sooooo much!! We would take him and show him the bed while Ben was working on it. He would look at the picture and then point to his bed. It was so cute! So, when Ben put it in his room, Ian loved to go in and pat the wood and lay down on the ground inbetween the boards.

Grandma and Grandpa Johnsen gave Ian an early birthday present, Thomas bedding. If Ian was happy enough before the bedding, he was overjoyed at seeing Thomas and being able to sleep with him every night! The first time he saw the bedspread he got a huge grin and crawled all over it, pointing and just delighted.

He loves to spend time in his room now. He will touch the wood, climb on the bed, lay down, play on the bed with his trucks, and just hang out with his new bed. Ian gave his Daddy hugs and kisses and expressed how happy he was with his new bed.

And if your wondering, he has done great sleeping in it!! The first night I was kind of worried, but he stayed there and slept all night long!!! In the morning he came out with a big smile on his face.
