Stan's Funeral

Stan passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2010. It was the day after Ian's birthday. He had a rough last two weeks and was a blessing. He was alert and responsive till the last day. Stan was a great man and will be greatly missed. Ian talks about Poppa often. We go to the cemetery almost everyday to say hi to Poppa. Ian even tells me right where to go.

Full Military Honors. This was awesome. The things they did and said, precise, respectful, and comforting. I have never seen military honors to this degree. It was so neat.

Hadlee's Blessing Day

The day before Ian's birthday Ben's brother Jon blessed his baby girl. This was on Sunday, October 10, 2010. Stan passed away two days later on Tuesday October 12, 2010. The family went over to Stan and Sharon's house so that Stan would be able to participate in his granddaughter's blessing. It was such a tender, sad, and such a special and spiritual day. Stan always writes a poem for each new granddaughter. Even with how bad he felt, he was able to finish a poem for little Hadlee and it was read at the blessing. Soon after the blessing, Stan told his sons that he was ready for a blessing of his own-he was ready to return to his Father in Heaven.

Manis, Pedis, and 1st Haircuts

A few days before Stan passed away we decided to get Sharon out of the house for a little bit. She was such a good, loving, and compassionate caregiver to Stan during this trial-especially those last two weeks. We thought it would be fun to go get pampered. We went for pedicures, and I told the girls how much I use to love getting my nails done. I can't now because it's a hosptial policy-and I have no money. Anyway we decided to get manicures done too-and they loved it!

Sadie was starting to look like a little sheep dog. She had hair all over the place. So, I took her to my friend Melanie and she cut her bangs and tried to get some order. She did pretty good. Now we can see her eyes!
