Ian's Big Boy Bed!!!

Ben built Ian a new bed. We found the design from Pottery Barn and instead of paying over $1000 for it, we opted to buy wood, stain, and bolts less than $150 and have Ben and Stan build a bed. Ben has always loved woodworking and has wanted to do this since Ian was in my belly.

Ian loved the headboard and footboard sooooo much!! We would take him and show him the bed while Ben was working on it. He would look at the picture and then point to his bed. It was so cute! So, when Ben put it in his room, Ian loved to go in and pat the wood and lay down on the ground inbetween the boards.

Grandma and Grandpa Johnsen gave Ian an early birthday present, Thomas bedding. If Ian was happy enough before the bedding, he was overjoyed at seeing Thomas and being able to sleep with him every night! The first time he saw the bedspread he got a huge grin and crawled all over it, pointing and just delighted.

He loves to spend time in his room now. He will touch the wood, climb on the bed, lay down, play on the bed with his trucks, and just hang out with his new bed. Ian gave his Daddy hugs and kisses and expressed how happy he was with his new bed.

And if your wondering, he has done great sleeping in it!! The first night I was kind of worried, but he stayed there and slept all night long!!! In the morning he came out with a big smile on his face.

New Tricks

Ian started climbing the drawers in the bathroom so he could turn on the water and wash his hands. We got him a step stool to make it easier, he loves it!

For Dad's birthday we went up to the canyon to spend the day. Ian loved the water and trees and just being outside all day!! We had burgers and yummy dutch oven veggies.

Ian's Very First Black Eye

So, about a month or so ago we were at Grandma's house and Ian was chasing the kitties. He was crawling on the deck and had his head down. He went to stand up and hit his head on the arm of one of the patio chairs. Pretty soon he had a purple mark under his right eye. Throughout the next couple of weeks it changed from purple to blue, brown, green and yellow. It was there for quit awhile. Grandpa Stan said he looks like he is on the football team. We were trying to get pictures of it and he was being silly as usual.

Puppy in the Tub

Here is silly little Beanie Baby in the tub. He has little Thomas the Tank Engine squirters and loves to play with them. Well Ben likes to squirt Ian and they both laugh and laugh. Well, one day Ben was squirting him and Ian kept opening his mouth like a puppy dog and trying to get the water in his mouth. It was hilarious! Now he like to eat the bubbles, lay on his belly in the water, and splish, splash and make a mess. He gets mad if we try and skip bath time. He gets naked and runs to the bathroom door and pounds on it until we let him in. Then he runs to the tub and turns it on!! At least he likes to be clean.

Meeting Elder Holland

So, the plan was that in January 2010 Ben's parents were going to go on their mission for either a year or 18 months. We were going to move our little family into their house while they were gone. We had it all planned out. Move in December, get the low down of running the house, get the kids rooms set up, all our stuff set up, and start a routine over there. Well, about a month ago Ben's dad called during church and told him to call back. So Ben calls his dad and finds out that his stake was split and Stan got a new calling. Any guesses? Stake Patriarch!!!! Can I tell you how in shock we were!! Especially Ben's parents. Needless to say, they can't go on their mission, we can't move into their house and we are going to be stuck in our little house with two kids sharing an itty bitty room. There must be a reason, so we are fine with it. Its just funny how things work out.
So, Elder Jeffery R. Holland came to Farr West to ask Stan and Sharon (he actually did more talking with Sharon, held her hand and kissed her cheek) to accept the calling. It was announced in stake conference the next day. A week later, we were invited down to the church administraion building in Salt Lake for the ordaining. It was so neat, all of Stan's kids were here. Jason was home from Iowa for a few weeks. Stan's dad and Sharon's mom were also able to come.We got to go to Elder Hollands office and visit with him and feel of the Spirit of the Lord. It was very neat to watch him interact with Stan, calling him friend and as if they had been friends their entire lives. It was a beautiful blessing. Elder Holland let us ask questions and take pictures. It was truly a neat experience and once of a lifetime.

More Oregon Pictures

Here are a few more pictures from Oregon. The first is of us in the hot tub at the house. The next is Ian running around and loving the ocean and beach!!

These are of cute little Ian at Chris's birthday dinner at Kylos Resturant, right on the beach.

This is Ian at the cheese factory in Tillamook.

This is a little video of the beautiful ocean.

Cupcake Theives

So, this is a little late, but back when Hannah and parents came
to visit, Dannie had made little baby cupcakes for her sister-in-law's baby shower. They were on the counter. The babies got mad at Chris for taking away a toy they were fighting over and were screaming in the kitchen. Pretty soon it got very quiet. To quiet. So, my mom went to investigate and started laughing and said to bring the camera. My little darling Ian had reached up and got the cupcake container down and both babies were shoving in cupcakes faster than we could do anything. It was hilarious!!!! Those two are pure trouble together!! But, oh so CUTE!!
PS. it was right after their baths too!
